Do you have color artifacts after sharpening?

If you do (and let me assure you, it is NOT rare), Here is how to solve it:

  1. Make sure you use the Smart Sharpen window to do your sharpening
  2. After playing the filter click on Edit > Fade Smart Sharpen
  3. In the Fade dialog box choose Luminosity under the Mode drop down

Want to go further and do this non destructively?

Convert the layer to be sharpened into a Smart Object (no relation)  by right clicking on the layer and selecting Convert to Smart Object, then choose Filter and click on Convert for Smart Filters, then apply the smart sharpen filter, you will be able to revisit the filter and change the setting any time you want.

Now instead of using the fade command to get rid of chromatic abberations, simply right click on the Smart Sharpen layer in the layer pallete and choose Edit Smart Filter Blending Options and here change the blending mode to Luminosity.
